Star Wars: “Obi-Wan Kenobi” on Disney Plus Adds 10 New Characters to its Cast

Disney Plus has just announced some exciting news, the Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi show kicks off production in April 2021. Adding to that announcement they revealed that Joel Edgerton, Kumail Nanjiani, Bonnie Piesse, Indira Varma, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Rupert Friend, Moses Ingram, Sung Kang, Benny Safdie, and Simone Kessel have teamed up with Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor for the upcoming Star Wars series.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Release Date

While we do not have an exact release date as of yet, we do know that McGregor will return to the show as Obi-Wan Kenobi - a decade after his last appearance in Revenge of The Sith. Back then the exiled Jedi was living on Tatooine. On the other hand, Christensen will come back to his role as Darth Vader, Obi-Wan's former apprentice, and the fallen Jedi Anakin Skywalker.

The newly announced cast members, Pieces and Edgerton are familiar with the Star Wars series - as they played Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen in Revenge of the Sith and Attack of the Clones. Where the baby like Luke Skywalker was handed to them by Obi-Wan - so fans are excited to see a ten-year-old Luke in the upcoming show!

Furthermore, Ninjiani is all set to appear in Marvel’s Eternals, and others entering the show are new to the fantasy world - and considered to be from a faraway galaxy.

Another exciting piece of news is that Obi-Wan Kenoi will be directed by Deborah Chow - the same Deborah Chow who directed two amazing episodes of the Mandalorian (season one), the Sin, and the Reckoning. While the show will be executively produced by Michelle Rejwan, Kathleen Kennedy, Chow, McGregor, and written by Joby Harold.

A great treat for fantasy fans is that Obi-Wan is just one of the many Star Wars series that will make its debut on Disney Plus in the years to come. So fans are set and ready for at least a few years.

Other Disney Plus Spinoffs

Another two spinoffs, The Mandalorian Rangers of the New Republic, and Ahsoka are also joining the Disney Plus family at the end of 2021. With a teaser that the second season of the Mandalorian is also all set and ready to make its way to Disney Plus in December 2021.

More Star Wars Surprises

However, the surprises do not end here! There are more Star Wars series coming your way including Andor. Where you find Diego Luna as taking on the character he played in Rogue One - 2016. Justin Simien is all ready to take back his role as Landon Calrissian he played in earlier films. Furthermore, the Acolyte is also under work by Russian Doll - Leslye Headland.

When it comes to the Star Wars animated series you can enjoy A Droid Story, The Bad Bitch, and others that are still in the working process. Along with short films based on the Star Wars Vision. Making sure every Star Wars fan old or new is well catered to when it comes to enjoying Star Wars content! So get ready for an action-filled year of Star Wars spin-offs that will first be telecasted only on Disney Plus!
